Research

Advancing Precision Medicine.

My current work is in pharmacogenomics of infectious diseases, based at the Pharmacogenomics and Genomic Medicine Group (PGMG) & Lab, University of Cape Coast, School of Medical Sciences. I investigate how genetic variation shapes drug response in African populations, and what that means for the way we treat disease here.

Pharmacogenetic Profiling in Ghanaian Cohorts

Characterizing population-specific genetic variants influencing drug response among Ghanaian patients with diseases including HIV, HBV, Malaria and Metabolic disorders.

  • Identify actionable pharmacogenetic variants in Ghanaian populations using TaqMan qPCR, Multiplex PCR, RT-qPCR and RFLP-PCR.
  • Train interns in genomic methods
Completed

Brain Tumor Type Classification from Gene Expression Data

Built a machine learning model to classify brain tumor types from gene expression data, reaching 85% accuracy. Used SHAP to explain the model's predictions and uncovered a genuine biological pattern.

Tools: Python, scikit-learn, SHAP, pandas
